You may be aware that LINk:MK prepared a report, "Accessing Health and Social Care for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired", for local health services providers, including the Clinical Commissioning Group. The report was a result of a work programme project with local Deaf and Hearing Impaired patients who brought their issues to LINk:MK.

There are 28 GP Surgeries in Milton Keynes, of which around 22 currently have an active PPG (Patient Participation Group).PPGs are an excellent way for patients of a practice to share their opinions on many aspects of the surgery.

LINk:MK set up it's PPG Network in 2010, following publication of a multi-agency guide for setting up PPGs, and was the first of it's kind in the country. Its aim is to increase awareness of Patient Participation and to support PPG members. Network events take place approximately 4 times a year and give anyone with an interest in PPGs the opportunity to share experience and and learn about new initiatives in Primary Care both locally and nationally. The events are planned by a steering group consisting of LINk, PPG and NHS representatives.

LINk:MK are in contact with over 150 people who have attended network events, and many of these are now LINk members aswell.Recently, a newsletter for the network was launched with the aim of reaching more patients across Milton Keynes.

If your practice would like advice or support on setting up or maintaining a PPG, or what recent Government initiatives will mean for Patient Partcipation, please contact us or come along to one of our network meetings.
