The LINk:MK / Healthwatch Milton Keynes members who took part in this groundbreaking project recently met in Birmingham for a celebratory lunch where they were awarded their Commissioning Champions Certificates by John Bewick, NHS England. PPG Newsletter Spring 2013_(441K)

There are 28 GP Surgeries in Milton Keynes, of which around 24 currently have an active PPG (Patient Participation Group).PPGs are an excellent way for patients of a practice to share their opinions on many aspects of the surgery.

LINk:MK set up the PPG Network in 2010, following publication of a multi-agency guide for setting up PPGs, and it was the first of it's kind in the country. Its aim is to increase awareness of Patient Participation and to support PPG members. Following consultation with members, and LINk:MKs transition to Healthwatch, Healthwatch Milton Keynes will continue to run the PPG Network Network.

Events take place approximately 4 times a year and give anyone with an interest in PPGs the opportunity to share experience and and learn about new initiatives in Primary Care both locally and nationally. The events are planned around what members tell us they want to learn through the network.

Healthwatch Milton Keynes are in contact with over 400 people who have attended network events, and many of these are now Healthwatch members as well.A newsletter is produced particularly for this group of participants.

If you would like advice or support on setting up or maintaining a PPG, or what recent Government initiatives will mean for Patient Partcipation, please contact us or come along to one of our network meetings.
